This weekend I have yet another wedding to attend, but across the state this time. Hopefully that means several chances to randomly pull off the highway to get some great shots.

And for the inner nerd in all of you: I finally saw Fanboys. It’s worth checking out. Yes, it’s about people who love Star Wars and hate Star Trek with a passion, but it’s still a great movie for anyone who’s a fan of either series. In all honesty, it would be hard, I think, to catch some of the jokes unless you were familiar with both series, but lets face it: If you’re way into one there’s a damn good chance you know a hell of a lot about the other.

So in reference to my the aforementioned last post, Bonnaroo was once again a fantastic time, and still is the best American music festival in my opinion. One of the best bands this year was Tennessee’s The Features. I’m glad to hear that Kings of Leon have chosen them for their new imprint. The guys deserve it. In related Bonnaroo news, and in a move that I don’t find all too surprising, Nine Inch Nails has decided to keep playing more U.S. shows, despite announcing they wouldn’t and making headlines around the world. Kind of lame, but at the same time, great that more people will get to experience once of the best live bands out there.

While this blog will remain random and conversational, the plan right now is to overhaul ryanclaunch.com and make it a site strictly for my photography. It’s in shambles as it stands, but during the next few months that will hopefully change. As far as photography on the Web goes, there doesn’t seem to be a lot info on lighting other than what’s found at strobist. Being such an integral part of photography, you would think that you could find more information, tutorials and tips on lighting on the Web. If I find some more, I’ll share them here.

On a photography-related note, I’ve finished with some bridal portraits I shot recently. I’m hoping the bride approves and will spread the word/give me some more work. If only I didn’t have a day job that got in the way of taking photos …

In unrelated news (and the reason for this post), I find that I rely less and less on my PowerBook. Between my iPhone and the recent and upcoming updates to the Wii and Xbox 360, the reasons to use my traditional computer are now basically no more than to hold my iTunes library and let me edit photos in Photoshop. Past that I don’t really use a traditional computer outside of work. While I still see the need for traditional, stand-alone computers, technology has caught up in most other aspects of our lives, and I’m glad that if I want to waste a lot of time on Twitter or Facebook I don’t have to be sitting at my desk.
